"our song is the slamming screen door, sneaking out late, tapping on your window, when we're on the phone and you talk real slow 'cuz its late and your momma don't know" Riley kicked the sand lightly. It sprayed into the water, disappearing instantly. She sighed, pulling her sweater closer to her chest as a soft breeze picked up. The sun beat down on her face, makeing her hair stick to the back of her neck. Riley slid off her sandals, and stepped into the water. She wore a pair of tattered jean shorts, a tank top, and blue sweater. The water felt nice against her heels. She knelt down, feeling the water lick her knees, as she dragged her hands across the surface.
Riley turned around when a great explosion of laughter broke the silence. She looked over her shoulder at a wedding party father up the beack. A huge white tent with dazzling yellow lights sat by the water's edge, and people danced to the music, protected from the blazing sun. Riley winced as another sharp laugh pierced the silence. Riley rocked back on her heels and sat down in the white sand, her feet still submerged in the cool, refreshing water. Riley sighed before looking at the blue sky above her.lyrics: Taylor Swift (Our Song)

PAST THE PLACES WHERE YOU USED TO RUN you never did notice, but you still hide away. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ah, poor girl. Little did she know that my skater buddies and I were up at the wedding party, crashing it. Didn't she know it was fun to do things like this? Well, if she didn't, that was okay, because I didn't even know I was about to meet her. I strolled through the party, my slate gray beanie on, bangs in front of my happily gleaming eyes. From a distance, I may have looked drunk. I was dressed terribly casually for the affair, with all the attendants wearing formal attire. I was in black cargos and a tight Etnies shirt. My guys - I didn't know, I never paid much attention to them. I would admit, it was hard to walk in the sand wearing Vans, but it was all part of my costume, the disguise that kept the rest of the world from knowing that Paxton Bold was just a scared, wimpy kid who just needed someone to hold him most nights.
I spotted a pretty girl in the midst of the party, her red hair in a coiff, and draped my arm over her shoulder. 'Ello there, love.' I slurred drunkenly, kissing her cheek and taking a sip of her champagne. Her arm muscles had gone limp in shock and she couldn't fight me off. My friends snickered. Her friends stared, wondering who this was. I grinned, and smiled. Joey, one of my best boys, drove up in a car and blasted Sum 41 through the speakers. I grabbed a bottle of champange of the table, cracked it against the hard surface, gave a bow to the surprised attendants, and ran toward the car. I didn't leave before grabbing one of the wedding gifts, though, a jewelry box. Whatever was in it must have been expensive.
I'd never imagined myself living the life of a theif, but if it was what it took to make the prank work, I was okay with it. As we were driving away with the top down, I would happen to have left it on the sand. I never did any real damage. I just lived for the shock factor. As we fled the party, the raging guitar riffs of the punk band still busting from our stereo, I saw a lone girl on the beach.Thankfully, no one in the party was after us, so we could manage to stop the 300 yards down the shore. My friends hopped out, I ran toward the waves, and met the water as it rose to the sand. I squatted down; she was apparently trying to ignore me to avoid an awkward situation, and splashed her playfully. 'I saw you trying to ignore me. Well, that's not about to work.' I smiled slyly. Hmm. Come to think of it, she was actually pretty cute. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"our song is the slamming screen door, sneaking out late, tapping on your window, when we're on the phone and you talk real slow 'cuz its late and your momma don't know" Riley turned her head back to the party when she heard someone blasting Sun 41. She loved that band, but she wasn't in the mood to listen to them right now. She had been enjoying the wedding singers, it meshed well with the beach scene, and it made her feel relaxed. A bunch of boys had decided it was their job to crash the party. Riley scowled and turned back to the water that lapped the edge of the beach. The sun was just heading down for the night, and the sky was turned a soft purple with hints of tangerine orange in the clouds. She took out her cell and snapped a shot of the beautiful sky, before she felt water sprayed on her. She shivered before turning her head and annoyed look on her face. Then the look disappeared as she realized it was some guy, some cute guy. She frowned when he spoke.
"I saw you trying to ignore me. Well, that's not about to work." The boy said. She raised an eyebrow, before setting her hand in the water and splashin him back.
"Oh, I wasn't trying to ignore you at all. I didn't notice you." She said, deciding that if he wanted her attention she would play a little hard to get. She half-smiled, before turning to look down at her feet, still submerged in the water. lyrics: Taylor Swift (Our Song)

PAST THE PLACES WHERE YOU USED TO RUN you never did notice, but you still hide away. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She hadn't noticed me? I slapped a hand over my heart, outraged and surprised. 'How could you?' I spluttered, flabbergasted. As if a girl had never noticed me. They all seemed to have crushes on me, but it was not very often I fell for somebody myself. I don't know ... Love was just one of those things. I felt apathetic just thinking about it. Hmmm. This girl did have potential, however. She could definitely hang with my boys; she hadn't taken the comment to heart and she seemed just fine playing along with my games.
Another shocked expression made it's way onto my face as she splashed me with water. My mouth hung open, terribly surprised. 'Cheeky little monkey.' I smirked, my green eyes flashing with adorable mischeif. I somewhat crawled over to her, sat so close our hips touched and put my arms around her, unannounced. Oooh. I cuddled closer. She was warm and toasty. And so soft ... My head fell on her shoulder. 'That wasn't very nice, pretty lady.' I whined, my green eyes glinting sweetly. Funny. I normally put on such a good act, but I'd never believed what I was trying to sell. I actually felt like I wanted her to have noticed me, that I didn't want her to push my arms back from her waist. Maybe it was just the disorient after crashing the party.
Either way, my buddies found it funny, as they always did. They cheered me on at random from behind me. Alfie, the boy with the black hair and the lip ring, stared jealously, Joey, the guy with the unnaturally red spikes, was the ringleader, and Kent, an obnoxiously loud, muscular guy was laughing his face off. It would be a huge improvement, he looked like a Pug dog and kind of hindered my group's success on picking up girls. We did it all the time, hit the clubs and had groups of them on us in second. Like mosquitos on fly paper. However, today, I'd caught a pretty little butterfly. Too pretty to belong with the other miniscule bugs on the page, but too lovely to let go at the same time. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"our song is the slamming screen door, sneaking out late, tapping on your window, when we're on the phone and you talk real slow 'cuz its late and your momma don't know" Riley watched the boy as he spoke. She glanced up at him through her long eyelashes and batted them flirtatiously. She looked back at his friends and rolled her eyes. They just wished they were getting splashes by her. Riley flipped her hair to one side before pulling her knees into her chest. Riley turned her head to see the guy slightly crawling toward her. She wasn't sure what to think, but decided to play alon with his little game. She arched an eyebrow and pursed her lips. She felt their hips touch, and then the warm embrace of the boy's arms around hers. She didn't struggle, she just merely looked at the boy and stopped herself when she was about to give him a warning look.
His head fell on her shoulder and Riley stretched her neck so he wouldn't hit her chin. She looked down at him as he whined. A giggle escaped her lips and he clasped her hands over her soft pink lips. Riley's heart jumped at the realization that he had just called her pretty. She hesitated, taking a deep breath, before clearing her throat.
"As much as I enjoy being called "pretty lady" my name is Riley or Rye for short." She said cocking her head and looking into the boy's bright green eyes. They were breathtaking and Riley did her best to keep breathing and to not get too lost in their gaze. She blushed, before turning away, hoping he wouldn't notice her rosey red cheeks. She was adorable, her giggle ringing through my ears. I'd messed around with a lot of girls but never heard anything like it. I watched her intently before gently reaching out and poking the tip of her nose with my finger. 'You have a cute little button nose.' I grinned, my voice still smooth and masculine, but my words and mannerisms of those belonging to a child. She seemed to be taking this well, hopefully she knew I was just playing for fun at the moment. I thought she was a sweet girl, but I really didn't know her, and it's not like I believed in love at first sight.
She blushed scarlet and I immediately thought otherwise. My heart dropped into my chest as I realized if she knew the truth - she'd probably think I was playing her. I felt like I needed to take some steps backwards, and fast, or I'd start falling for her because ... she was actually falling for me. Many girls hated to admit it, but they loved the chase as much as us guys. This girl, however. She seemed to be liking the way I approached her, and that made me afraid because I'd never really let anyone in.
'Oh, so you liked it! Well, we don't always get what we wished for, pretty lady, and that's what I will call you from now on.' I grinned, gently reaching a hand forward to ruffle her hair. The curls were soft and full of bounce and shine, like she'd just returned from a hairdresser. I grinned, releasing the strands from my greedy fingers. My friends laughed at me expression I suppose, but this was immediately returned by a glare. The guys were cramping my style again... 'So, pretty lady... Riley ... would you honor me in a promenade on the beach?' I grinned, standing and extending my arm like the perfect gentleman. Funny. I really hoped she would. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"our song is the slamming screen door, sneaking out late, tapping on your window, when we're on the phone and you talk real slow 'cuz its late and your momma don't know" Riley smiled, and when he poked her nose, her eyes widened as she watched his finger. She covered her mouth to keep from laughing. He's probably just playing with me...I shouldn't even be reacting this way...but...I can't help it. She thought. Really, she hadn't expected to meet a guy as cute as him, or as outgoing. Riley's eyes remained wide as she looked at the boy. Usually she would have told people to call her Riley or else, but there was something different about this one. She didn't really feel compelled to call her anything in particular. Riley's heart did a flip, before she realized that she shouldn't let herself fall for the boy. For all she could tell he was just playing with her for his own amusement, or to make her feel better about being all alone on a beach.
The sun fell below the water now, casting an eerie orange glow across the water. She watched the scene as the moon arose, and the stars began twinkling their beautiful light. Riley looked up at the boy when he spoke. His arm was held out to her and at first she hesitated. Then slowly she rose to her knees and held out her own hand, before rising.
"Why of course." She said in her most elegant tone that she could muster up in her moment of disbelief. Now she didn't care whether or not he was playing her, she was determined to have fun. Lyrics by: Taylor Swift (Our Song)

PAST THE PLACES WHERE YOU USED TO RUN you never did notice, but you still hide away. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She agreed to go with me and I took a deep breath through my nose. I hooked her arm in mine, the crooks of our elbows touching. She had such soft, warm skin. I turned my head away, but only for a moment, to glare at my guys. They ran off like scolded dogs, fear in their eyes, but accompanied by the thrill of the chase. I sighed once more, and turned back to Riley. We had been walking at a fast pace, and I wondered where she thought she needed to be heading. Maybe farther away from my guys? I knew they could be intimidating sometimes, but I would try to protect her from them. 'Slow down.' I chuckled, pulling back on her arm, my biceps flexing and my feet slowing to an abnoramlly snail-like pace. Somewhere along the way I had kicked off my flip flops without her knowing. 'You sure my guys weren't bugging you back there?' I asked her, a lingering bit of guilt causing this question to arise. I looked anywhere but at her face, and found that being alone with her made me feel quite awkward. My cheeks flushed the slighest shade of pink, and I turned my hazel eyes to the sky. I'd had many girls comment on my pretty eyes, the base color being blue, but layered with lime and emerald greens, along with ochers and ombres. Flecks of indigo like the ocean spread out before us. I wondered if she liked sharing the sunset with a guy like me or if she'd rather have been left alone.
Why I was wondering these things, I wasn't sure. I wasn't falling for her, that was for sure. I was somewhat a player by accident. I sought attention, and found it easily uncovered in girls. I looked at Riley's face and felt something different in the pit of my gut, but not enough to tame me. No, she was too much like the other girls. And it would take quite a bit for me to settle down. I desperately needed someone who could be my equal, perhaps a girl that would play me back. But she would take care of me. My heart thumped at the thought of this girl, whoever she was. Her face remained blurred in my mind, and yet, I could see the way she would act and some of her mannerisms. The problem was, it might be awhile before I found her. And I'd break many more hearts like this one before I'd had enough of pieces and wanted something real, whole. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"our song is the slamming screen door, sneaking out late, tapping on your window, when we're on the phone and you talk real slow 'cuz its late and your momma don't know" Riley watched as a group of boys ran off. She raised her eyebrows before glancing down at her feet. She held her shoes in her free hand. She walked sort of fast, but that was just her normal gait. When the boy pulled her back gently, she blushed, turning a crimson red. She sighed, feeling an array of mixed emotions. She wasn't falling for this boy was she? He had just appeared, to put it correctly, out of nowhere. Riley didn't believe in love at first sight. She simply just didn't see how you could just look at someone and know that they were the one.
"Sorry, I just normally walk quickly." She said smiling at the boy. She realized that she hadn't gotten his name, and she certainly didn't want to call him 'boy' or 'kid'. She looked at him again, this time taking a glance from the corner of her eye instead.
"Hey, I never did catch your name." She said, a hint of a laugh in her voice. She pulled a piece of hair out of her eyes and shoved it behind her ear. Riley looked at the beach that lay in front of them. The sand seemed to stretch on forever if you looked at it correctly. She could hear the waves rushing up to meet the sand and then being swallowed back up by the roaring waters that stretched on endlessly. She sighed, glancing up at the boys friends once again. She shook her head gently.
"No, they didn't bother me at all." She said, her voice soft and delicate. Lyrics by: Taylor Swift (Our Song)
