Really, what he was doing was terrible. It was making him a terrible person, partly because of the fact that Keith Bennett didn't really feel bad for what he was doing. While currently going out with Tia Bell, he was often seeing Effy. He was quickly discovering that he enjoyed seeing Effy more than Tia and was avoiding Tia a lot more than he should for a boyfriend. The reputation he had, that mostly went unnoticed by him because he didn't really care, was only brought up by being Tia. Or maybe, just maybe, it was his reputation that was pulling Tia up. Either way, he wasn't worried about what might happen about being popular. Some people sure cared a lot, but he could care less. Thoughts about looking good, cute, handsome, and all of that had always been out of his mind. Then again, he didn't know himself all that well and it would take many people and a long time for that to get drilled into his brain.
Keith was currently sitting at his desk, chewing on his pen. One of these days the pen was going to explode all over him, but not today. In front of him was the English paper he had written so easily, without even thinking about it. That had been his only excuse to ditch Tia tonight and now that it was done he was pretty much out of luck. While he did have some math homework he could do, he knew that it would be done in a matter of few minutes and she wouldn't believe him if he said he was having trouble with it. Especially since complaining was one thing that he never did. Getting that sort of attention was not something he looked for on a daily basis like many.
As he set down his pen and stood up, leaving his binder open to his essay scrawled neatly in his surprisingly neat handwriting, his eyes wandered over to his cell phone that laid on his bed a few feet away. Grabbing it, he wrapped his hand firmly around it, leaving his finger prints on the unscratched screen. He was rather tempted to text her and tell her the truth: they needed to break up. But he just couldn't do it. At least not today. With that thought still on his mind, he headed into the family room to watch some television before Tia showed up. How would Tia react when he finally got his true feelings out there? It wouldn't be pretty, he knew that. But just how bad were they talking about? Since they were little they had been friends, and then he had asked her out once he got interested in girls. She had said yes and they had been dating since then. That was a long time. Too long for his liking. But at the same time, he wasn't a guy that could break off a relationship without seconds thoughts. This was one of the few relationships he had ever been in. And while he could break up with other girls with only a few issues, breaking up with Tia was another story. How do you break up with your best friend? When he finally did it, would she even want to be friends again? He had a feeling she knew that it was coming. But she hadn't yet started to do anything to drastic, so he had a feeling it would be soon. Would he break it off tonight? No, chances are, he wouldn't. Even though he had been thinking about it for longer than she thought, he still couldn't do it. Being the type of guy that he was, he wanted to know every single way she could react when he finally broke it off. All of them. Being murdered, her killing herself...All of these had been already thought over. But he still wasn't quite happy with what he had come up with. Eventually he would do it. Eventually was not today.
He was suddenly so caught up in his thoughts that he jumped when the doorbell rang. Sighing, he stood up, flicked off the television, and tried to get his confusing thoughts out of his head. Jogging to the door, he couldn't help it, he opened it and smiled slightly. It was the smile that a lot of people loved. "Hey, Tia."
