Lexi walked into the small Hot Topic in the mall. She was in here for one reason, summer shopping. She basically needed a swim suit though, but, you never know what you could find in a store until you go into it. She did have a few extra bucks on her for like food or something. But, she will probably spend it on clothes or something. She can eat at home or something.
She walked around the store looking for the bathing suits. They weren't that hard to find, considering it was kind of a small store, but, whatever. She looked at all of the suits that were out and found the one she really likes. Bikini, black and hot pink, skulls and a very cool design. The main color was the hot pink, the black design was like huge then declined a bit. She took it off the rack and asked an employee if they could open up a changing room for her. They got a key and opened it up.
Lexi walked in and put the suit on. She looked at it in the full length mirror in the room. She was skinny, so, it didn't look all awkward, so, that was good. She poked her head out the door to see if anyone was watching her. The coast was clear. She walked out real fast. The mirror in her room was filthy, so, she went to the mirror outside the door. She didn't want anyone to watch because she didn't feel that comfy with her body.
Well, she looked the same kinda. It was clearer, but, it didn't make her look amazing. She would never match up to some of the drama queens at school, but, she knew that would never happen. She wasn't born with great looks or a good personality. She was boring and smart, she just didn't show it. Except on tests, but, that's a different story.
She turned around to make sure it didn't make her butt look big and turned back around. She shrugged to herself. Oh well, she didn't need to have a boyfriend or be known in school. That was for the popular kids only, right?
She shook her head and stopped thinking about the joys of having someone there for you when you needed them. But, that's what best friends are for and she had Carter for her best friend. They were amazing friends and that would never change!

I smiled again, so happy to see my friend again. She'd just come to Berlington after a long absence, and it felt like I hadn't seen her in ages. Word Count 462. Lexi turned around at the sound of the voice. It was Carter, her best friend since they were kids. She said that if she wasn't comfortable with her body, she wouldn't ever wear the suit. Lexi smiled, "Well, it's cute and stuff. Besides, I might wear it. Ya never know." She smiled once more after her comment about the style change thing.
Lexi grinned, "Well, we haven't seen each other in awhile, so, that would be a big fat yes!" Lexi grinned. Lexi used to basically be a plastic her first year of middle school. Shallow and not caring who she hurt. She wouldn't even look at Hot Topic before. She would always want designer stuff and crap like that. But, she met a few friends and that all changed. They changed her point of view on things, so, now, she's classified as emo/goth/punk at school.
"How have you been?" she asked. She suddenly got a cold chill and realized in all the excitement she still had the swimsuit on. She laughed, "Hold that for one minute." She rushed into the changing room and changed out of the suit really quickly and back into her clothes once again. She came out and smiled, "Alright, no more being cold!"
She couldn't wait to catch up with Carter. It had been so long, well, it felt like it anyways. It had been like, a few months at most. That's three months of not knowing what was happening in each others' lives. A lot of stuff can happen. Like, boyfriends, music, and friends. Like, in those few months, Lexi and this girl named Emily now hated each other. Lexi went out with this guy who was a total loser, but, anyone she went out with, was always a loser. Her love life stunk.
"So, back to the same question, what have you been up to recently?" she asked once again.

grinned as Lexi blabbed on, trying to defend the swimsuit. It was just like her. "I was just kidding. We'll head out to the beach or the pool later this week if you want." I laughed. "And you'll wear the suit." I smiled; it didn't look bad on her. Lexi had always been skinnier than me, but now that I was starting to fill out a little, I made her look like a toothpick. Perfect for her. Honestly, I'd been out shopping for a swimsuit for weeks now and couldn't find one that didn't make me look like a slut with my new body. I was kind of happy Lexi had changed. Being a plastic had been immature, something we did in the sixth grade. Only in eighth grade, when Sam came around did I start exploring other groups and realizing that they weren't all bad. Now, I kind of floated in the middle, stuck in the Next Door clique but not really having any friends there besides the Elites. I got so sick of sitting at their lunch table. Summer was a welcome relief to all the Berlington drama. "Ah, ever-" I was interrupted as Lexi rushed back into the dressing room as the air conditioning came on. I laughed - she'd been standing right under the vent. She returned in a few seconds, in her new style of dress. It suited her. "You look nice. It fits you. Especially with the hair, and all." I grinned. A worker came in, checking around for clothes that inconsiderate people had left in the dressing rooms themselves, and I eyed the black-haired boy as he swept past. He looked like an eavesdropper to me, maybe even someone who'd once known Sam, so maybe it'd be best to continue our conversation elsewhere. "Well, a lot's happened in the last few years, so maybe we can head over to Starbucks or something to talk about it?" I said, holding my tanned arms as close to my sides as I could. Hopefully Lexi wouldn't notice the scars before I had the chance to explain. I could write off the cut on the back of my leg as an accident, and thankfully, it had tanned - it hadn't been a deep cut. But the wrists were obvious, even if they were almost the same color as the rest of my skin. Remembering the night I'd cut myself, Aaron Kelley's face flooded my mind, the memory of his lips on mine made me bite my own. She'd have to know about him, too, since I was pretty sure we were going places. "As long as the stuff that's been going on with you in the past few years isn't too private, we can talk about it on the way there." I smiled cheerily, tugging at the bottom of my baby blue tank. We passed by the group of girls I'd dropped cash for, Abercrombie bags in hand, looking like they'd just had the time of their life. There were only three girls, so I assumed they'd only gotten one thing each, but they seemed terribly excited about it. Maybe I should be generous more often... Carter said they would go by the pool later and hang out there for awhile. She nodded at the thought. Summer wouldn't officially start until kids started to swim! "Yeah! Starbucks sounds good right now!" She hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, so, her stomach was bound to start growling any time now. Before that, she said that the new look fitted her a lot better, "Thank you. I think it does too. Besides, converse are a lot comfier than heels." Well, the were.
She said that they could talk about some things that weren't too private on the way there. She nodded and they walked out of the store after she quickly paid for the suit. A couple of girls passed them with bags of Abercrombie stuff. They weren't huge bags, so, they obviously didn't have that much money to spend. Lexi looked at Carter. She was staring at the girls and smiled. Lexi grinned, "Did you have anything to do with that?" But, it was Carter, so, she probably did. Maybe she dropped a twenty or randomly gave it to them. Either way, it sounded like Carter.
"Well, what do you want to talk about first? Like, how awful cliques are and stuff, or something else?" She lifted up her eyebrow in suspicion. Carter had hid her arm behind her back in the store. Did she cut for a brief period of time? And if she did, what drove her to do such a thing? Lexi never really thought her parents to be horrible enough for her to do that. "Ya know, I have a lot of things to get off my chest that I can't tell anyone else. I mean when I met Meghan and Kayla in middle school, we became instant friends, and stuff. But, I don't think I could tell them what happened between this guy and me. And no, it's not sex."
She always had to say that because someone might take it the wrong way. And that's not what happened at all. Just pressure beyond belief among her first kiss and her friends hating her for doing that, but, there is a back story to that whole friend hating thing.

he group of girls passing by didn't seem to notice us staring. I laughed. Lexi knew me so well. "Oh. Heck, no. Are you kidding me?" I looked the other way, biting my lip so as not to bust up through the lie. I looked back at the girls who were retreating with their purchases. "Well, they looked poor and bored." I grinned. Not that it took that much money to buy stuff at Abercrombie. They were seriously poor. When I said that, I meant it. We continued to walk on toward the Starbucks, entering the food court. Subconciously, I searched for Aaron, but doubted that I would see him. He didn't seem like the kind of guy that would hang around here. Too much hustle and bustle, too many risks of contact, which I know he didn't like. And yet he still let me hold him. I blushed and grinned to myself, thoughts interrupted by Lexi's words. "Uhm, no. The cliques aren't that bad. I've had some issues with friends in the past year or two, but never a whole group." I shrugged. "So... something else." I smiled vaguely. I listened to her as she told me her story. Meghan and Kayla. I somewhat remembered the names. I think she might have told me about them a time or two, when the drama was occurring. But that was when I'd first started getting in with Sam. I hated myself for not caring enough back then, my focus on a boy who was only going to leave me. To make up for it, I had to listen extra close now. The last sentence made me laugh. "Well, okay, Lex. Way to jump to it." I giggled, ducking my head down as two guys passed, staring at the loud laughter. Thankfully though, we entered the Starbucks now, which fortunately wasn't empty, but filled only with middle aged moms escaping from their kids, who were probably out shopping now. They wouldn't care about our drama, they were probably used to hearing it from the kids in the backseat of their minivans all the time. I took a seat in a big, cushy booth and grinned, bouncing up and down on the seat for a minute. "We'll get coffee after we talk." I said, slamming down my hand on the table in front of me, hyper. By the looks of it, I didn't need any caffeine. Finally, settling down, I became more serious. "I told you about Sam, right?" I said, hoping this would start the conversation smoothly. I remembered mentioning some stuff about him before with her, but whether she did too or not was a different story. Lexi shook her head and smiled at the same time. Carter always did small things like that. It was something she had always like to do when they went places like malls and stuff. Drop small amounts of money on the ground and seeing who would pick it up. "You are gonna run out of money one of these days if you keep doing things like that," Lexi teased.
She listened as Carter told her about the school and how it worked. Apparently it wasn't too bad. But, a few fights and stuff. Lexi nodded as she told her, then, slammed her hand down on a table. Lexi kind of jumped at the sudden loud noise. She wasn't scared, but, just really jumpy. Damn, no coffee until after they talked. Oh well, it's not like she was a caffeine addict or anything; maybe. Okay, just a little. She needed to cut back anyways.
Carter mentioned something about a Sam. Lexi thought. Sam. The name did ring a small bell in the back of her mind. "Maybe. Which one was Sam? Sorry. I haven't had like, any caffeine today! Sorry, I know I need to cut back, and the little addiction hasn't really gotten any better..." Lexi smiled. She wanted to try and ease this little addiction with Carter. She knew about it, but, it hadn't gotten any better. "Alright then, tell me more about Sam. What happened?" She didn't want to be all fun and games with Carter. It was fun to screw around most of the time, but, Carter seemed serious now, so, it was time to get a little serious.
Yeah, shits and giggles were always good to have around friends, but you did have to listen when they needed to talk. It's polite and your friends might actually need good advice, not just someone to play around with and make smart ass cracks. But, that was kind of her job, well, both of their jobs, but, they were each others best friends. What kind of friend would she be if it was only Carter had to listen to the problems of the both of them. Yeah, that could go over so well.
