Well, Alec was normally some place dark where no one would want to look for him. He was new though, so, it's not like anyone knew who to look for and why they should try and bring him out of the dark woods. He had only arrived here about two days ago. Why would anyone look for someone they had no idea who he was or where he came from. He was here to get away from his parents and stuff like that. Nothing more, nothing less. He just wanted normal parents who didn't hate him and want him dead. He wanted real love, not that fake love they showed for him whenever their bosses or friends came around. Not his friends either. He had like, no friends. Who would want to be friends with him anyways? He was nothing to them. Just a piece of dust in the way of everything.
He leaned against a tree and slowly began to sit down. He eventually found ground. His right hand fell to his pocket, his left hand just on his lap. Should he pull out the sharp instrument that gave him the scars and marks all over his wrists and arms? Or would he be caught by someone and taken to a therapy class? His right hand grabbed the cold metal inside his pocket, but loosened. He brought it out and put it on his lap also. He didn't feel like even trying to get caught today. He knew it really wasn't that possible, but, he still didn't want to risk it.
He curled his knees up to his chest and laid his head down into the mass of blackness. No one actually cared about him, nonetheless even heard his name. He wouldn't even be known his senior year to anyone in the school. Who cared about some emo kid who wanted to die? He almost killed himself once. Why would anyone want to be around him? He would never find true friendship or love. Love. What did the word really mean? And not the dictionary definition either. Love was something two people had, a special connection. He would never have that.
He lifted his head up and looked up at the cloudless sky. It was a clear blue color. He never had took notice of how the sky really looked till now. He had just looked up to see if it looked like it would rain or not. But, today was a little different. He wouldn't have to worry about his parents coming after him with a gun or anything. They never had, but, they all three knew that they wanted to. But, he could just sit here in the spot until something happened. But, nothing good he knew. Nothing good ever happened to this kid.

B R O O K E L L E it's breaking my heart to watch you run around, because i know that you're living a lie. » LIFE WASN'T ALWAYS CUT OUT TO WHAT IT WAS MADE TO be. Some people enjoyed living their lives, and lived it to the fullest; not caring what people thought about them, always got good grades in school and just having the time of their lives, like intended. Than there were people like me, and without explaining everything, most people looked down at us, and thought of us as freaks. Most people didn't look down inside who we really were; broken. Troubled souls, some haunted by their past, and hard to be healed. Some, never to be healed. It was hard to imagine it anymore, but yep, one of those 'freaks' was me.
» AS MUCH CARE AS I REALLY HAD FOR ANYTHING, THE ONE and only thing I loved most was my precious Ecstasy. It was my lifeline; saving me from harming myself physically even more, or so I thought. The little white capsule never failed to make me happy, lift me off my feet and make me feel above everyone else. The more I took, the higher and higher I got. The more powerful I felt. It was the greatest feeling on earth, really. Nothing I had ever tried had ever topped it, and if anything did, God please tell me now. Yeah, I was an addict, and I was proud. No one else could ever even make me the slightest bit happy, no matter how hard they tried. I'm glad that at least some people, even if they were just like everyone else, understood how people like me felt, and since they couldn't do any good themselves, they made something to do the trick.
» MY FEET STUTTERED ALONG, TAKING ME ANYWHERE THEY pleased as they crunched and pounded hard onto the rough ground, filled with dead leaves, extra brush and weeds. I wasn't really aware of where I was going, I was just letting my actions take control of me, doing whatever my spazzing brain cells pleased. The sun was beginning to hide for the night, the leaves in the trees up above blocking any possible light out anyway, so it was pretty dark, but not complete darkness quite yet. My eyes were droopy, and I was completely out of it. The Ecstasy had taken over, yes. My goal. I stopped, pill bottle clutched tightly in hand, popping open the lid and swallowing another one, just to make me extra satisfied. I breathed heavily, continuing to walk forward when I stopped, then barely realized, someone was around me. I knew where, I just couldn't point the exact location out since I wasn't aware of life at the moment. All I knew is that they were sitting next to a tree. "Hey!" I said, using a really friendly tone. I got up on a fallen, mossy log laying on the ground, attempting to walk on it. About a quarter of the way across, I twisted my foot and fell, landing face down on a pile of leaves, along with a twig. I burst out laughing of course, not being aware of any pain was great. "Fuck!" I giggled more, brushing my hand up against my cheek, covered in blood. "Umm... Ow?" Only seconds later I forgot about my bloody hand, continuing to lay down on the ground and laugh. Fuck, I was blown. And it was great. Realizing again I was laying a few feet away from this person now, I decided to say something else. "I dunnooo about youuu... but I'mm hiiighhh asss aa kiteee." My full dutch accent wasn't really noticeable since my voice had so much enlightment to it than normal, but of course, it was still there. "Fuck mijn leven." I muttered, still barely giggling at myself as I lay on the damp, mossy and dirty ground beneath me.

Well, what else was there to do now? Well, sitting here was just boring now. He had nothing with him. No skateboard or notebook. Bah, life sucked immensely. Well, at least for him. But, as always, something seemed to happen to him at the oddest of moments. Someone came along and tripped over something. She was laughing her ass off saying how high she was. Maybe this school wouldn't be so boring after all.
After he thought about what to do next, he decided to do the decent thing and help her out a little. He got up and went over to were she was laying. He looked down at her. She had a mix of blond and black hair. She had bright blue eyes too. "Are you gonna be alright. Ya know, except for the whole being high shit? Or do you need some type of help?" He wasn't gonna do it personally, but, since the girl seemed to be drugged beyond belief, he would see if she had a phone on her for him to call someone. But, hopefully, he wouldn't have to do that.
He looked at her eyes more carefully to see if she was drunk or drugged. Drugged. He looked at her hand, it looked like it was clutching something. Pill bottle. He rolled his eyes and carefully took it out of her hand. Ecstasy. Figured as much. That's one of the easiest medicines to get high off of. He should know. Not from personal experience, but the kids he hung around did that kind of stuff all the time. Overdoses beyond galore. It was actually kind of funny to watch.
Getting back to reality, he looked at the blood to see if he could find where it was coming from. Her cheek. He tried to get a better look at it. Just a small cut, so, it would be easily managed once she came to once again. But, that could take hours depending on a few small factors like, how long she'd been taking the medicine and how long she'd been a drug attic. That could be easily over-looked though.
He waved his hand in front of her face, "Hello? Are you anywhere near coming back down to reality?" That was a nice question to ask, but then again, it was kind of important since it could be awhile if she did. "Do you know your name?" He had gone through this routine a lot in his earlier days with some people. What's your name, how old are you, where do you go to school, and other simple questions like that. Nothing too difficult for the drunken or drugged person. Simple math questions like 2 + 2 also. None of that what's the square root of shit.

B R O O K E L L E the gods themselves envy my hand fate wields its knife to cut the thread » I HAD TONED DOWN THE LAUGHING AND GIGGLING NOW, BUT I was still as stoned as ever. I could barely concentrate on what the stranger I had come acrossed was trying to say to me. My vision was blurry, my heart was racing and my mind was dead, in a sense. I could still think, of course. But not clearly, at all.
» `TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY SO FAR. AN A+ ON MY SEMESTER exam, I had made more progress with the guy I had liked, I was having a good hair day, and I looked good. Something essential that had to make a girl's day. The only thing missing was my brother. And as much as that should have bothered me, it didn't really. I just knew that he would come back eventually. No matter how long it took.
» I MADE MY WAY UP THE SIDEWALK OF OUR STREET, NOTICING A police car in our driveway. My hopes immediatly went up, hoping to see my brother back in our home when I walked through the door. I took off in a sprint, feeling like I was going a hundred miles an hour as the wind blew through my hair as I ran. I busted through the door into my kitchen, "Where-" I expected to see my brother standing for me there, but what I saw was unexpected. My mom was sitting at the table, balling her eyes out. My dad's head was down, shaking back and forth as he leaned up against the wall. One of the policemen turned to me, "What's going on?!" there was worry in my voice. But the words that went through my ears wasn't anything I had expected, instead, they changed my life forever. "I'm sorry, Brookelle, but your brother is dead."
» AFTER THAT, MY ENTIRE LIFE WENT DOWNHILL. FIRST I started with the cutting. That stuck for two years before I expirimented more, and decided drugs worked better. Although I still cut, as well. Just as much as I had done the past years. Most of the scars I had on my wrist were permanent, it was that bad. And clearly noticeable. I found no point in hiding it though. I wore short sleeve shirts wherever I went. If anyone asked, I'd just tell them, or ignore them and walk away. It was just the way I was.
» FUCK, A FLASHBACK. THATS HOW I COULD TELL WHEN MY high was wearing off. But it was still gonna be maybe half an hour before I would be back to my normal self. I still couldn't quite concentrate, or respond in anyway a sober person would really understand. Although I really didn't care, I was doing my best. "Hello? Are you anywhere near coming back down to reality? Do you know your name?" I didn't exactly know how to respond. So I did it the best I could. "Fuck. Umm..." Now I didn't want my high to wear off. It was then I realized I didn't have my pill bottle with me. I nearly went into panic mode, but instead I played it somewhat cool, getting on my hands and knees and searching the ground. No sign of it. I whined, "De vloek van de god het." In my mind I was just thinking 'fuck, fuck, fuck.' but I braced myself on using too many profanities. I was starting to come around a little bit, but still dazed. I sighed, muttering more cuss words in Dutch under my breath, my palm on my forehead as reality began to come back to me slowly.

When she answered it sounded like gibberish. Oh fuck, he's gonna have to deal with her for the next twenty or so minutes. He felt bad just leaving her here anyways. He couldn't do that. He wasn't that heartless. She did start moving around though. She turned around and started looking around. Yeah, this girl had a really bad addiction alright. "Yeah know, taking to many of these could result in seizures, comas, or even death," he said while reading the warning label on the back. Even though of this, he didn't want to get attacked. He would rather do himself his own damage than some other person. He tossed it on the ground next to her hand.
His blue eyes now focused on the girl scrambling to find her pills. What happened to her that made her like this? He looked at her wrists. Slit. She must of cut, but he looked at his wrists. Her's must of been scars now. She must of done it awhile back. He rolled his eyes. He now wondered how people kind of saw him now. He wasn't a druggie, but he did cut. Did that make him a bad person? No, that made his parents horrible people. They drove him to it anyways. They were the ones that beat on him every time he did something that they didn't like. So, they beat him every hour basically he wasn't at school.
"No Alec," his father's voice sounded, "You do not skate." Alec was what, nine when this 'conversation' happened. "Skating is bad and can end in serious consequences. Like getting arrested." His father motioned to his mother. His mother shook her head, "We only want the best for you Alec." That was bullshit and he knew it even back then. They wanted him out of their lives.
Alec raised his head, "But, I just go to the skate park down the street. I don't go onto private property." Alec's father grabbed his arm and pushed him against the wall. "Do not talk back you little brat. We feed you, clothe you, and let you do various activities."
His father hit him in the chest. Alec fell to the ground and started coughing up blood. His father spit next to his hand. "You sicken me."
Alec's eyes teared up and he swung his head the other way. His hand reached into his pocket and pulled out the little comando knife he stole from his father when he left. The girl in front of him was too drugged up to even notice him, she wouldn't care anyways.
The knife flew open and he looked down at the ground. He hated flashbacks. This is what it always led to. Nothing but sadness and misery. He raised his head to look at the girl, she hadn't really moved that much and wasn't looking at him anyways. He put the knife down to his wrist and made one quick jolt across his wrist. He kind of twitched when it happened, but he was used to it by now that he didn't care.

B R O O K E L L E the gods themselves envy my hand fate wields its knife to cut the thread » REALITY CONTINUED TO COME BACK A MOMENT AT A TIME. OF course I didn't like it, and I felt I wasn't ready to come back yet. I knew it was really really bad, but I really didn't care. "God zij dank." I quickly grabbed my pill bottle as it seemed to magically appear by my hand, almost like it had been there the whole time. Well, I was still high. It probably was there the whole time, for all I knew. Needless to say, I took the bottle eagerly, popping it open and spilling only a couple more pills into my hand, putting them on my tounge and swallowing hard. It wouldn't get me as high as I was before, and it would only last about fifteen to twenty-five minutes since I had taken them before I was sober again.
» MY HIGH WAS JUST BEGINNING TO KICK BACK IN WHEN WHATSHISFACE made another comment. Since I was high I was seemingly in a good mood. If I was sober, I would never talk this much, and just ignore him ninety five percent of the time. "You know, taking too many of these could result in seizures, comas, or even death." I sighed almost in relief as my body began to tingle, the ecstasy working its magic once again. "I don't care. I've experienced two out of the three." I paused, biting my lip, a normal habit that I got into. "I'm working on the last one." My breathing was getting faster, heart rate quickening with each moment that passed.
» I WAS PRETTY OUT OF IT AGAIN NOW. NOT LAUGHING MY ASS off like I was before, but dazed and not really aware of anything. I sat on the log and stayed that way for about twenty minutes, just like I knew how long the high would last. My head throbbed as I began to breath heavier, coming down from the high, back to reality once again.

Well, he knew the girl wouldn't care, but, she didn't even notice the blood. Oh well, less for him to deal with right now. He bent down to the ground and wiped the little knife off of the blood it had on it. He flipped it shut and put it back in his pocket. He looked at the cut. It would just turn out to be another scar among the many all up and down his arms. His parents beat him, no one would no the difference. He had a scar running from the top of his neck to all the way to his lower back from his father. It was jagged too, not a straight line.
The girl said she's already done two out of the three; and working on the third one. He sighed. A person who wanted to die from too many drugs. Like he hasn't seen any of those people before. Especially not at his old school! He shook his head. That was a load of sarcasm. If he would of said it out loud, the drugged girl could probably even tell.
The girl sat on a log. She began to breathe heavier than before. Her high must be almost over then. Now would be a good time to ask the stupid questions. He slowly went over to her, "Alright. What's your name?" What a boring routine. What's your name, how old are you, and what's 2 + 2. That never got old. Bullshit.
The girl just sat there though, looking like she had no intention of answering. Oh well. Like he didn't have better things to do. He could be causing disturbance to the peace right now for all he cared. Skating around the streets, dodging people by a half of a second. No, he had to come to the forest today, didn't he? He just wanted to be alone today, and tomorrow, and the rest of his life. He didn't want a girlfriend, not that anyone would want to be this boy's girlfriend. He was nothing a girl would ever want.

B R O O K E L L E the gods themselves envy my hand fate wields its knife to cut the thread » I FELT MYSELF COMING BACK TO REALITY FASTER AND faster, being able to think, hear and feel things much clearer now. Back to my normal self; most people would call me psycho, but really I was just crazy depressed. That part was pretty obvious. I wasn't patient at all, and I was rarely ever friendly. I. Wanted. To. Die. And no matter how much help I got, it only made the problem worse. I was convinced that there was no way to turn back from who I was, and it would only keep getting worse and worse as life went on, until the point where one day, I couldn't stand anymore, period. And I would just give up.
And I'm afraid that day could come anytime soon.
» I SAT THERE FOR A MOMENT, JUST SPACEING OUT. IT always happened after I got over with a high, when everything was coming back to me. Back to feeling dead again. Everything about me looked dead. My eyes, my expression, my voice. I had no life to me anymore. But, as the days went on, I got more and more used to it. I had to, or at least pretend. I was the biggest fake I had ever met.
» I WASN'T REALLY ALARMED, BUT I FOUND IT A BIT RANDOM and awkward when the stranger came over to me. I remembered that I was doing something and came acrossed him when I was high, but I couldn't remember all of it. Sad, isn't it? I must have been pretty fucked up before, because he started asking me questions like I was being interogated by the police. '"Alright. What's your name?"' I just glared at him for a second, deciding wether or not I should answer the way he wants or not. Eh, I figured I'd act decent before I went into my normal, bitchy and crazy mood like I always had. "Brookelle." I said, bluntly. My distinct Dutch accent was clearly noticeable now, unlike when I was high you really couldn't tell, yet I did remember cussing to myself in dutch a few times.
» I NEVER LIKED TO TALK MUCH, AND I ALMOST REGRETTED getting high out in the forest instead of anywhere else. If I didn't come out here, I never would have ran into this stranger who would be questioning me like I was being given a final in kindergarten. Hmm, well, he would learn soon enough that if he pushed my buttons even the slightest bit, he would be out of here in no time.

Alright then, Brookelle. interesting name. "My name's Alec. Remember how you got out here, or that you were a little high?" Well, he guessed that he could stick around for a minute or two to make sure that this girl was fine and she could walk back to where ever she came from alright. Then, he would leave and find a different place to hide from the world.
His hand then went to his wrist. Whenever he wanted out of something he put his hand on his wrist. He didn't really want to stick around here for much longer. He just wanted to be somewhere dark and never come out. He didn't want to do anything. He did want to at least finish high school though. He wouldn't be in that percentage of high school drop-outs.
Well, this would be interesting. This girl was just coming down from where ever she was. Whenever people did that they would be a little woozy and cranky. This girl seemed that she would hit him if he did anything she didn't like. Well, he would stretch that a little bit to see how far he could go with this. Hey, maybe he could make his first enemy here because, he never really had 'friends', just acquaintances. "So," he started, "why do you want to overdoes yourself?" He was actually truly curious about this.
People had reasons behind their actions. His was because of his horrible parents. Her's could be completely different. Maybe she never knew her parents or something like that. Maybe her life really did suck completely. Hey, he didn't, couldn't, blame her. His life sucked. His parents wanted him dead. Maybe that's what would happen in these last years of high school. He would disappear and never come back. But, he could flee the country and go someplace remote. No need for suicide, but what would be quicker?

B R O O K E L L E the gods themselves envy my hand fate wields its knife to cut the thread » THE FEELING OF NAUSEA CREPT OVER ME SLOWLY. I PUT MY hand to my head, closing my eyes and breathing slowly, trying to avoid it getting any worse. Although it was a short-term side effect of the drug and I had felt this along with many other symptoms plenty of times, I never got used to it. The side-effects I usually felt were random, too. Sometimes I hallucinated, sometimes I felt nauseated, tense, or I even had the chills or heated up for a short while. They usually lasted about an hour or so, either way, I always felt like I was sick. But I guess I would just have to deal with it. After all, it was worth it.
» OKAY, SO THIS KID'S NAME WAS ALEC. EVEN THOUGH WE weren't technically strangers anymore, he wasn't going to get too much information out of me, and what I saw from his attitude, he thought just that. "Remember how you got out here, or that you were a little high?" I still decided not to talk much, and to give him as little information as I could. I didn't want too many rumors to spread since I had just gotten here, and I couldn't trust anyone. I watched my back well. "Not really." I hadn't looked him straight in the eye until now, and it was just a glance. I still had my pill bottle tightly in the palm of my hand, and now that I was done with those for the rest of the afternoon my razor blade I had hidden wedged between the wall and my bed was calling for me more and more by the seconds.
» EVEN THOUGH I COULD TELL THIS KID, OR 'ALEC' WANTED TO get out of here and away somewhere else, alone just as much as me, I didn't get why he kept asking me questions, only wasting his own precious time. "So, why do you want to overdose yourself?" I didn't even think before I answered. "That's your business because...?" My eyes I'm sure were shooting daggers, my voice heavy with annoyance and sarcasm. I wasn't asking him a billion questions on his life or why he had cut himself. Yeah, even though I didn't show it, I noticed much more than people thought I did.
» GOING DEEP INTO THOUGHT NOW, I WAS BEGINNING TO HAVE other flashbacks as well. When my parents figured out I did drugs, when they figured out I cut myself, shit. They freaked. I can tell you now, I was not going to be able to survive high school. Only an incoming Freshman and the problem wasn't just that I couldn't think straight anymore, I was fucked. Big time. I had never made any plans for the future, because even as a little kid I knew I was never going to make it that far in life. But only time could tell, when my future would end.

Her eyes were like little knives about to be thrown at him when she answered his question on the pills. He thought of a good way to respond without getting attacked. He put his hands inside his pockets, "Look, I'm just trying to help okay? Life sucks, I get that. I know what it feels like, okay?" Maybe some type of sympathy before would make her a little more soft, but he doubted it. This girl was obviously not about to tell this stranger she had met a little bit ago her damn life story. Hey, he got that. He wasn't gonna push.
He pulled his hands out of his pockets. The cold, silver commando knife fell out of his pocket. It made a little noise when it hit the ground. He looked at it for a minute. Dry blood was stained on it. The design was a dragon. It was his father's old knife he loved. Well, Alec stole it just before he had come here. His father wouldn't know it was him who stole it. And if he did find out and Alec heard he was on his way here, he would be gone on the next plane out of the country. He wasn't gonna stick around to see what his father was going to do to him for stealing his precious knife. He loved that knife more than anything, and he needed a reality check. He had a wife, but the kid he wasn't so sure about.
Alec finally bent down to pick up the knife. The metal made it feel extra cold since it had been out of his pocket for more than a few seconds. He flicked it open and the blade was still a little covered in blood from when this girl was drugged out. He wiped it off on his black shirt. Hey, at least it wasn't white. People wouldn't be able to tell that anything was on the shirt. No problem with him for sure.
He shoved the knife back in his pocket. He couldn't really think of anything else to say so he started to mess with his thumbs. His tongue started to mess with the two piercings in his lower lip. Turning the two black studs. Hey, it was what he did when he got bored. He couldn't help it now. It was force of habit. His thumbs stopped beating back and forth. It was starting to get sort of warm outside so he rolled up his jacket. Who cares if he revealed his scars. No one would ever see the long, jagged scar on his back. It was still a little rough when you ran your finger across it.
Instinctively, he ran his fingers across his right wrist. The scars were drilled in now. Never to heal basically. They were smooth though. A cold chill ran through his spine. He didn't like the feeling of that.
